Public Health

Amidst our evolution, health has emerged as a critical domain of our interventions. While health initiatives have long been part of our mission, our approach has undergone transformation in recent years. What began with periodic health camps in communities and schools, primarily focused on adolescent girls, has now sparked a profound shift.

Our journey has been shaped by the voices of the women groups and Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs) we collaborate with. Their impassioned call for heightened health awareness and services has reshaped our focus. In response, we’re fortifying and broadening our commitment to the health sector.
In Chhattisgarh, the landscape is marred by a lack of health awareness and accessibility. Our objective is twofold: first, to empower women leaders within these communities. We’re equipping them with knowledge on government health funds, emphasizing institutional deliveries, immunization, and mental health services. These leaders then become beacons, extending this crucial awareness to their communities.

However, our approach isn’t confined to women alone. We recognize the pivotal role of men and boys in shaping a healthier community. Our leaders are actively engaging with male members, aiming to foster understanding and sensitivity. Addressing violence against women, its health ramifications, and the imperative for prevention, protection, and response are crucial aspects of these dialogues.
Moreover, our journey isn’t isolated; it’s a collective effort. We work closely with women human rights defenders, fostering continuous engagement with both the community and district authorities. Together, we advocate for a public health approach that addresses and responds effectively to violence against women.
